Organize Your Christmas Gifts from Rubbermaid

People treat Christmas like this is the only time of year to get someone something completely mind blowing. I mean, is December the only time to get the ones you love totally mind blowing gifts and the rest of the year is a buzz kill? Not in my house. No one likes my lists….I am practical, realistic, affordable, year round too! I like gifts that I can use everyday, that are appreciative, functional.

This year I thought to myself….Karie…what do you need or want? Well I wanted a vacation…but what I really need is organization! I scoured my kitchen, my house, my garage. Disarray! With three kids, twins no less, a dog, and a husband that works full time, blessed be that my house is traffic worthy and that it truly is as perfect as it is all the time. However, I have hidden secrets. Such as my Tupperware. Yes, my dark secret is my Tupperware cabinet fails me. FAIL I tell you.

I sought for the perfect Tupperware answer and Rubbermaid answered my call, the folks at Rubbermaid were so gracious to send me some to review for the gift guide.

Rubbermaid you ask? Like those Roughneck Totes? Yes. Imagine, roughneck totes for your kitchen. Functional storage with the quality of Rubbermaid brand and functionality. But here is the best part in my opinion. Rubbermaid offers 17 different kitchen products (well…more, but specifically these are for the kitchen). What is even better is their new food storage line of products has these great lids.

Lids? You ask. Yes, lids. Do you not hate when your lids are everywhere. A cluster mess of hide and seek for the right lid. Well Rubbermaid has these fabulous and I truly mean fabulous, ingenious snap and click lids.

So I reviewed the 20-piece food storage mixed set and I tell you what….I was ecstatic. I emailed Rubbermaid the day I got them and was bubbling over with the ease of use with the lids. How everything nested together. And…then put away so nicely. I washed them immediately and I absolutely had to try them because that day happened to be farm day for my CSA pick-up and I had produce that needed to be stored properly. I got to chopping and put the Rubbermaid food storage containers to the test, especially the produce savers. Here is what fresh, organic farm tomatoes look like in the Rubbermaid Produce Savers food storage.

Look at those tomato juices nesting at the bottom. This is what you tomatoes will normally sit in and that may make them more mushy once they have been chopped and diced, leaving them undesirable and you end up tossing them, thus wasting money. Well I hate to throw away money. So the produce savers are fabulous for those produce items that happen to be juicy or may turn juicy over time. You see the little green tray at the bottom? Well that keeps your produce fresh and out of the juice with the slots and raised platform, not to mention the venting holes at the top to help release the gasses the build up as produce is stored. But here is what Rubbermaid suggests for your produce storage, which is that you “do not cut the produce before storing” [Rubbermaid, 2009], read more here.

But the produce savers are not the only products The Five Fish tested and the Lock-Its with the secure tab, the Premier, and the Easy Find lids. All with the click lids for easy storage and access.

Rubbermaid is not just store for your stuff and food, but they also have Closet and Laundry storage and organization, Garage organization, any space you can think of and the products to make life more functional and easy! Who can tell me they would turn down functional?

Do you have a chef at home, wife, mother, sister, brother, maybe a college student who could use these. All around Rubbermaid is a great gift idea for anyone who could use storage. You want some you say? Well here is your chance to win a 20pc Food Storage Mixed Set with The Five Fish:

  1. I have all of our tupperware on a shelf within a cabinet. We can never find the right lid for the bottom or vise versa. And I'm constantly mumbling obscenities about our tupperware woes. It's out of control, seriously.

  2. FB Fan of Rubbermaid :: Erin Cox

  3. Oh I've entered a few of your other giveaways by now…Step 2 for starters.

  4. My pet peeve would be you can never find a lid when you need one. Must be a black hole in the cabinet somewhere??

    ReggieM1961 (at) gmail (dot) com

  5. My pet peeve is two containers will look exactly the same, there will be three lids and neither will fit.

  6. My biggest pet peeve is the tupperware retaining a smell, no matter how many times washed. Tomato sauce seems to stain and also leave a tomato-y smell behind 😉

    Thank you for this opportunity!

  7. Pet peeve is not being able to stack everything, open the cabinets and I waste time searching for the right lids or they all come tumblin out of the cabinets
    karenmed409 at comcast dot net

  8. i always loose the lids, i take my dinner to work and its very frustrating, when i put my food in a bowl and then i gotta put it in a different bowl because i can find a lid!!!

  9. I hate opening the fridge to a bunch of containers that you can't see whats there so it doesn't get eaten… See-thru containers would be much appreciated

  10. Pet peeve is having the lids warped, even if they were on the top shelf of the dishwasher. They never can be used again.

  11. I don't understand how we lose lids in this house. All my storage containers are in one cabinet and there is always a plethora of bowls but never the lids to go with. It's baffling!

    mamie316(at)sbcglobal(dot)net

  12. My pet peeve with tupperware? It seems we keep buying, and buying it but when I really need it, I can't find the right size or the right lid! I just need to go, get a big set and be done with it.

  13. Like everyone else, we can never find the other part, whether it is the top or bottom. May have something to do with little man clearing out the cabinet so he can hide his brother's soccer ball in there though.

  14. Some can be used in a freezer, some can't. Some can be microwaved, some can't. I want an all purpose one I can expose to a nuclear bomb blast if I want

  15. I would love to have some Rubbermaid storage. Tupperware is too hard to get and all of the other stuff is cheaply made.

  16. Pet peeve is the sizes with their many lids. Do I need a 6 or a 9 lid? How do I stack them in my pantry? Let alone how do I stack them in the frig so when filled they do not fall over. It is the frig problem that really peeves me.

  17. Tupperware pet peeve, that's easy the cost in comparison to other storage options out there now a days.

  19. Why is it that after a while the tops no longer fit the containers? That's my pet peeve.

    wolfcarol451(at)gmail(dot)com

  20. My pet peeve is that food storage containers take on the smell of the food that is in them. Even with regular washing, they get ripe.

    whatinabox (at) gmail (dot) com

  21. I hate when my plastic bowels get stained from sauce and when the lids and bowls get separated

    chickeedee_2002/at/yahoo/dot/com

  22. Thank you for the giveaway. I dislike how they don't fit neatly on the shelf and if you are looking for the lids? Forget about it! Most likely they have already vanished.

  23. I like to have all the same size stacked together with their matching lids on top/ of the container!

    picketfence_cartel at hotmail dot com

  24. The Tupperware I've owned (and it has been a while) did not store empty very well. You could either put the lid on and have it take up more space, or you could leave the lid off, put a smaller piece inside it, and never find the lid.

  25. My pet peeve is that after being washed several times the lids sometimes stop fitting tightly.

    xmeliss182x (at) yahoo (dot) com

  26. I have some glass and t6hey broke.Tupperware they stain.Thank you for giving away a great prize from a Great Site!

  27. I don't like that my storage containers never fit where they are suppose to-especially in the cabinet where they are waiting to be used!

    khmorgan_00 [at] yahoo [dot] com

  28. My main gripe with Tupperware-the lids run away! That's the only explanation-I have loads of containers, with no lids. They had to have absconded. Thank you!

  29. My pet peeve is that I can never find matching containers and lids. I don't know how I lose a lid and still have the container and vice versa. It's so frustrating!!!

  30. i would love to have a set of the snap and click lid sets i cant stand digging through the cupboard for the right one and then they all fall out just like the commercial

  31. I have many broken Tupperware lids that crack from use. I have not tried Rubbermaid because my Mom is a die hard Tupperware lover. I may stray to find a better product… Don't tell Mom.

  32. My pet peeve is I can never match the right lid to the right container and I always have extra lids.
    smchester at gmail dot com

  33. I just hate that I always forget we have leftovers, but that is more user error than anything else LOL.

    rsbryswrrl at gmail dot com

  34. I'm definitely not a chef, I wish I was. My husband works 3 jobs though and takes two meals a day this would be so helpful. I can't stand the way what we have now takes up so much of the kitchen storage space, we have had to buy extra cabinetry just for these.

  35. My pet peeve with Tupperware is keeping the right lid with the right container and being able to store everything – I have a tiny kitchen, not a warehouse. asthenight at gmail dot com

  36. I hate that the plastic containers never dry in the dishwasher, then all my other stuff gets wet when I take it out!

  37. No matter how hard I try to clean certain plastic storage containers, some foods stain it and I cant bet the stain out. Hate that!

  38. Warping is my biggest annoyance. When things go through the dishwasher, they at times change shape and even seem to shrink – preventing the lids from ever fitting again!

    racheliznewman(at)gmail(dot)com

  39. I can't stand the chaos that ensues from the lids going everywhere and then not being able to find the needed lid when I'm looking for it! It makes me want to only own 3 containers and lids of 3 distinct sizes.

  40. My pet peeve about storage containers is that if you have different sets that you've had for a long time, you forget which color lid goes to which. And then you have to squint for the code to match them. I'm glad for the code, but it is a pain. Also, storing them. With my closet it's easier to stack the containers in one pile and lids in another. I have so many different sizes and types that it takes a lot of time figuring out which goes where.

  41. My pet peeve with Tupperware is that people like them so much that whenever I send people home with leftovers from a dinner, they never return the containers.

  42. Organization definitely is a problem..I have lids for things I don't even think I have..having them all snap together would be very beneficial!

    hblaser at gmail dot com

  43. My pet peeve is when the lids get warped and won't fit on the containers anymore!

    Katie
    showbizkp[at]gmail[dot]com

  44. I really wish that tupperware was collapsable. We have so many that they take up an entire cupboard! They're great and all, don't get me wrong, I just wish there were some way to store a whole lot of them without taking up so much space when they're not in use. Thanks for the giveaway!

  45. It is frustrating when I lose lids, or they get warped, and I'm left with half a tupperware container. I end up using plastic wrap to cover the food if its to stay in the fridge.

  46. My pet peeve is like many others: I HATE when I can't find the right lid…or I can find the lid, but not the right container! I've tried storing the lids in shoeboxes, but it still doesn't seem to help. Somehow, the lid/containers never seem to match…

    Thanks for the chance!

  47. My pet peeve is keeping the lids and bowls together. I have a million bowls and a million lids but can NEVER find the mates when I need to. Thanks so much!! pamelashockley(AT)netscape(DOT)net

  48. It's the not finding either the lid or finding a bunch of lids that no longer have containers to go with them (how does that happen???!!!). Plus it seems impossible to train the rest of the family to put the containers back the way they're supposed to go, which of course leads to the not finding anything part.

  49. i have all my plastic typeware in one cupboard and never can find the correct top to go with the container. It drives me crazy in the mornings when i try to prepare lunches for our day

    bluebelle0367(at)hotmail(dot)com

  50. My pet-peeve for tupperware/storage is finding matching lids. So irritating! Thanks for the contest! codisweepstakes2 (at) gmail.com

  51. If you microwave a lid and warps it, they will never fit on the containers again. Thank you

    candieluster(at)gmail(dot)c0m

  52. Well, obviously the answer is that I can never find lids that match the bottoms. So I'll be different and say that I hate how the dishwasher shrinks the lids so that the lids don't fit their bottoms anymore

  53. I clicked on your facebook link, but that wants me to be your friend, not your fan. So.. I requested you to be my friend – barbara24

  54. My pet peeve is the staining that can happen and when people put them in the micro and they get all bubbly around the top.

  55. Not Nesting…. Oh I love some of my storage containers but they take up so much room and they don't fit inside one another… arrrrrrggg

  56. My pet peeve is that they take up so much space and I can never find the lids. They fall out every time I open the cabinet!

  57. I hate how easy it stains up. I've tried everything to keep them from staining from tomato sauce.

    hafner611{AT}gmail{DOT}com

  58. My pet peeve is also that I can never find the lid to whatever bowl I happen to want to use. A universal problem, I guess. Like missing socks.
    digicat{AT}sbcglobal{DOT}net

  59. My biggest plastic storage issue is NEVER being able to find a matching bowl/lid when I need one

    kimbly at gmail dot com

  60. My biggest pet peeve about Tupperware is that nothing stacks together. Everything just flops around in the cabinet and when they fall out, the kids just kick them UNDER the cabinet. Such a pain.

  61. I really don't have any problems with Tupperware at my house, but I do have a problem at my mom's house. She saves every storage container she can, such as cool whip and sour cream containers. All of it is thrown into a big cabinet and it is a nightmare to find lids to anything. I would love to gift this to her! Thanks for the chance!

    sherri419 at gmail dot com

  62. Thanks for the giveaway…My pet peeve with some OLDER Tupperware & other plastic storage containers is that some food items stored in them left stains and odors that were impossible to wash out…

    senorpiero [at] yahoo [dot] com

  63. Biggest pet peeve is they are so easy to stick leftovers in that everyone takes them to work, and thus never brings them home…

  64. I really hate that when I open the closet that holds all our tupperware, all the lids attack me. Plus! Where are all the containers that go with these lids? I haven't seen them in years…
